Ex-Hit exec launches new kids' outfit

Former head of copros and acquisitions at Hit Entertainment, Peter Curtis has resurfaced with his own development and production outfit, focusing on kids' animation and live-action.

The company, called Spellbound Entertainment, will concentrate on a limited portfolio of character-based properties aimed at the international children's and family market.

{Spellbound's primary focus will be to creatively and commercially manage animation projects across all age ranges, international dramas and sitcoms, as well as preschool live-action,{ said Curtis.

{In today's climate, we need to be very focused. I see Spellbound as a niche packager of rights, as opposed to a catalogue company. We're looking to work with a variety of commercial partners to raise the awareness of our properties and build brands,{ he added.

Since leaving Hit last summer, Curtis has been busy raising corporate finance for the new venture and will soon be unveiling his team of execs and various new properties. Spellbound is based out of offices in Primrose Hill, London.

While at Hit, Curtis was exec producer of the global toon phenomenon Bob the Builder, and was responsible for shows like Three Friends & Jerry and Untalkative Bunny. His earlier work includes stints at Workhouse and HTV.
