Ex-CBC, Blink49 exec Dylen Postnikoff enters Room418 with new microseries outfit

Former Blink49 Studios, CBC and Shaftesbury exec Dylen Postnikoff is launching a horror-focused microdrama platform and production company called Room418.

The LA-based outfit says it will focus on serialised horror, alongside licensed programming in vertical, horizontal and mixed formats.

Room418 has 10 original and adapted projects in development, including a vertical reimagining of the public-domain 1968 film Night of the Living Dead and an adaptation of When the Black-Eyed Children Knock, a popular Wattpad story written by Ben Sobieck.

Postnikoff’s company is teaming with Slash Management to coproduce an original project with digital horror creator Monse Gutierrez, as well as working with LA-based REELi Studios on a horror series inspired by Filipino folklore, which is slated to premiere on the platform and is planned to shoot in the Philippines.

The Room418 vertical video app will launch in an invite-only beta mode later this autumn with a selection of licensed horror content from creators and filmmakers, with plans for a wider rollout at a later date. The company is working with technology partner Kino Studios on the app’s product and technical infrastructure.

“We’re building Room418 to connect a global genre audience with a new generation of creators and stories designed for the way people are watching now,” said Postnikoff, who serves as co-founder and CEO of the new entity.

Room418 also plans to use its original programming to develop horror IP that can potentially expand into other mediums and formats, added Postnikoff.

“A microseries can be a complete entertainment experience in its own right, but it can also introduce a filmmaker, prove an audience for an idea and become the first expression of IP that grows into film, television and beyond.”
