Ex-boxer Chris John to produce vertical animated series with Singapore’s Silver Media

Dragon’s Dojo is inspired by Indonesian folklore

Singapore-based production and investment company Silver Media Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesian former professional boxer Chris John to develop and produce a mobile-first vertical animated series.

Dragon’s Dojo is the first chapter of Silver Media’s Aserya universe – an Asian mythology franchise that will span animation, comics, games, merchandise and entertainment experiences.

The Dragon’s Dojo series is an action-adventure show inspired by Indonesian folklore. It features John as an animated version of himself, portrayed as the founder and mentor of a martial arts school dedicated to helping young people facing difficult circumstances find direction, purpose and a second chance in life.

When creatures from Indonesian mythology emerge and threaten their community, John and his students discover that their journey is about more than fighting monsters – it’s about confronting the darkness around them, overcoming their inner battles and becoming the heroes the world needs.

The project is being coproduced with Indonesian TV industry exec Harun Kurniawan and Koollab Studios, a company focused on bringing emerging technologies, including AI, into production.

Chan Gin Kai, founder and CEO of Silver Media Group, said: “Asia has some of the richest histories, cultures and mythologies in the world, but many of these stories remain largely unknown beyond their home countries.

“With Aserya, we want to build an interconnected universe where these stories can come alive for a new generation of audiences. Dragon’s Dojo is the beginning of that journey in Indonesia, combining the legacy of a true champion in Chris John with the power of mythology, action and values-driven storytelling.

“As we open the door to a wider universe of stories from across Asia, we hope to share this rich heritage with the world.”
