European, Australian channels pick up serial killer series from Woodcut

True crime series Surviving A Serial Killer/Close Encounters With Evil

RTL (Germany) and AMC Networks (Spain) are among the buyers of UK true crime series Surviving a Serial Killer (14×60′), after deals with distributor Woodcut International.

Surviving A Serial Killer – a Woodcut Media production for Channel 4 (UK) – has also sold to Planète+ (France), European streamer Viaplay and Nine Network in Australia, which will air the series later this year.

The deals come soon after the series was retitled Close Encounters With Evil and saw its US premiere in March, following a deal Woodcut International concluded with A+E Networks, which acquired all US rights to the series.

Surviving a Serial Killer delves into the personal stories of people who have had a face-to-face meeting with a murderer and lived to tell the tale.

“We have had tremendous interest in Surviving a Serial Killer following its UK debut last year,” commented Koulla Anastasi, commercial director at Woodcut International. “This series is highly emotive, and each harrowing case pays homage to the courage and resilience of these incredible survivors.”
