eOne to distribute Diggstown

Transatlantic producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has picked up the global rights to a legal drama commissioned by Canadian pubcaster CBC.

eOne will shop Diggstown outside English-speaking Canada and will launch the show at Mipcom in Cannes next month. The deal was brokered by Noel Hedges, eOne’s executive VP of acquisitions and international distribution.

The series formed part of CBC’s originals slate announced earlier this year. It stars Vinessa Antoine (NCIS, General Hospital) and Natasha Henstridge (Species, The Whole Nine Yards).

Created by Floyd Kane (Across the Line), Diggstown follows a star corporate lawyer who reconsiders her priorities after a family tragedy. Landing at a local legal aid office, she is driven to never again allow innocent lives to be destroyed by the justice system.

It is currently in production with Canada’s Circle Blue Entertainment, Freddie Films Inc and DHX Media.
