Eco-thriller Isolation from screenwriter Morgan Gendel in the works at S4C

Welsh broadcaster S4C is developing an eco-thriller from US screenwriter Morgan Gendel (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Law & Order).

Isolation (working title) follows a team of scientists working to combat global climate change who discover an even more catastrophic otherworldly threat.

The transatlantic coproduction is being developed by Hiraeth Productions, Fun Republic Pictures and Karma Film, in association with Gendel’s Cashmere Road Entertainment, BAI-LEY and the S4C Commercial Content Fund.

Producers include Asa Bailey (Silo, One Hundred Years of Solitude), Anand Ramayya (Our Big Punjabi Family) and Cormican (ShadowHunters, Tokyo Trial), while the project counts Gendel, Cormican, Mirror Waters’ Christina Rose (A Woman’s New World) and Terra Firma’s Peter Nelson (Van Wilder, The Postcard Killings) among its executive producers.

For S4C, the project comes on the heels of Y Golau (The Light in the Hall) and Dal y Mellt (Rough Cut), both of which have been renewed, and Cleddau/The One That Got Away.

“We always strive to punch above with our original Welsh series development slate and Gendel’s Isolation does just that for us,” said S4C drama commissioner Gwenllian Gravelle.

“Joining forces with S4C and BAI-LEY to develop Isolation aligns with and builds upon our successful business model and track record working with like-minded European partners to deliver high-budget, flagship-worthy content to global audiences,” added David Cormican, principal of Toronto-based Fun Republic.
