Dynamic takes home Trophy Boy

LA-based distributor and financer Dynamic Television has picked up the adaptation rights to Trophy Boy, the critically acclaimed short film from Emrhys Cooper (Vanity, Mama Mia).

Emrhys Cooper

Trophy Boy follows a riches-to-rags story of a hot, sought-after Instagram star in high society and the illusionary world created by social media. When he is dumped by his wealthy benefactor boyfriend, he must face the harsh reality of creating a life without a hashtag and learn how to live in the real world.

Created by, directed by and starring Cooper, the film has been screened at the Cannes Film Festival, Dances with Films, California Independent Film Festival and Vancouver International Film Festival among others.

Cooper and fellow Trophy Boy actor Donal Brophy will executive produce the TV adaptation with Dynamic Television’s Holly Hines. Dynamic Television will also serve as studio and international distributor. Danika Underhill will produce.

Hines, senior VP of original content at Dynamic, said: “We were immediately drawn by the unique way Emrhys explores social media and the repercussions of using it to determine your own self-worth. It touches a nerve in all of us while doing so with humour and heart.”
