Docs on crime, medicine and prison life join Quintus Studios’ sales line-up

Syndicates: Germany’s Underworld looks at the trade in illicit commodities

A hard-hitting investigative documentary series about black market trading in Germany leads Berlin-based distributor Quintus Studios’ slate of factual titles for Mipcom.

Syndicates: Germany’s Underworld (6×60’) is coproduced by Quintus Studios for Kabel Eins, Joyn and Seven. One Entertainment. It explores transnational organised crimes and illicit commodities by exposing criminal entities working in loose collaboration across six German cities and states.

Medical factual special A Doctor’s Mind (1×85’, Moving Stories Group) follows surgeons in Utrecht, Karlsruhe, Geneva, Rome, Stockholm, Tokyo, Chicago and Günzburg as they carry out life-saving procedures.

The roster is rounded out by How to Make Money Behind Bars (3×60’, Jessica Mitchell for ZDFinfo), Jailhouse Records (1×60’, Jessica Mitchell, The Epic Company and Quintus Studios for DocuBay) and Behind Bars season six (5×60’ Maximus Films for Viasat and WBD Iberia).

Quintus Studios claimed the slate builds on the company’s flexible production, financing and distribution model.

Anouk van Dijk, head of sales and coproductions, said: “There isn’t one financing or distribution model that works for every project anymore. We can come into a project through a presale, coproduction or distribution, while our AVoD network of over 35 owned-and-operated channels and almost 19 million subscribers gives us direct insight into what audiences are watching.

“That combination helps us identify projects with international potential and find the right partners and platforms to bring them to market.”
