Discovery Kids Media adds Lat Am shows

Underdogs: The Animated Series

Children’s producer and distributor Discovery Kids Media (DKM) has added two animated series and three live-action titles to its slate, with all five shows being made in Latin America.

The new animated programmes are Underdogs: The Animated Series (52×11’) and comedy Bean & Friends (working title, 52×11).

Produced by Argentina’s Mundoloco CGI, Underdogs is set in the world of Sportsville and follows a team of foosball players.

Bean & Friends, meanwhile, tells the story of a bean sprout who befriends those around him after being left behind in a school’s art room. The show is a coproduction between Brazilian companies Chatrone Latin America and Birdo Studios.

The three live-action shows are Alex’s Music, Super Lolo and Our Zoo World  (all working titles).

Alex’s Music combines live-action and animation to tell the story of a passionate music lover who has yet to realise her full potential. It has been created by Adam Anders (Glee), whose company Anders Media is coproducing with US Spanish-language prodco 360 PowWow. Alex’s Music is being filmed in Mexico.

Comedy series Super Lolo follows the alter ego of a 10-year-old girl who develops ‘super-empathy’ after an accident with one of her grandfather’s gadgets. The show is an MV Videos production.

Finally, Our Zoo World tells the story of a 10-year-old who takes ownership of a Zoo and is produced by Brazilian prodco Boutique Films

All five titles will be distributed internationally by DKM.
