Discovery Kids, ABC Kids, ITVX among latest buyers of Rainbow’s Mermaid Magic

Mermaid Magic explores themes such as caring for the planet

Broadcasters including Discovery Kids in Brazil and Latin America, ABC Kids in Australia and ITVX in the UK have acquired Italian prodco Rainbow’s CG animated children’s series Mermaid Magic.

RTBF in Belgium, Tencent in China, M6’s Gulli and Tiji in France, TVP ABC in Poland, Canal Panda in Portugal, Channel 5 in Singapore, Dexi Channel in Serbia, Amazon Iberia in Spain and Portugal, and Dream TV in Mongolia have also acquired the series, which will roll out across these networks in Q4 2026 and early 2027.

The deals come ahead of Mermaid Magic’s S2 debut on Italy’s Rai on Friday, which will be followed by an international launch on Netflix next Monday.

Set in an enchanting world, Mermaid Magic follows the adventures of a fearless princess and her inseparable warrior mermaid friends. Together, the three heroines face new challenges in a universe where protecting the oceans becomes an integral part of their journey.

The series explores themes such as caring for the planet and showing how even the smallest everyday actions can make a difference.

Mermaid Magic is created and produced by Rainbow’s founder, president and CEO Iginio Straffi, alongside writer Rich Burn (Spirit Riding Free) and showrunner Guy Bareli (Kung Fu Panda, Minions).
