The companies are producing two documentary miniseries – one for a “premium broadcaster” and another for a global streamer. No further details have been provided.

The companies said the collaboration will bring together Creatorville’s access to original journalism through its sister company SWNS with the documentary production experience of Homecoming Studios.

Additionally, Creatorville and Homecoming Studios will present two further projects to buyers and distributors at Mipcom next week.

The first, under the working title Buried in the Past, is an access-led documentary following an American woman’s decades-long search for the truth about a suspected murder she says she witnessed as a child.

The second project, Key Witness, is a true crime anthology series based on Creatorville and SWNS’s YouTube channel of the same name.

Told by the people whose lives were changed by headline-making crimes, each episode brings together exclusive, first-person accounts to uncover previously unheard testimony and fresh perspectives on notorious cases.

John Farrar, Homecoming Studios’ founder, said: “The strongest true crime documentaries begin with access, trust and a story that demands to be told now. Creatorville and SWNS bring an extraordinary depth of journalism and relationships to this process.”

Creatorville founder Sam Barcroft added: “It’s wonderful to be working with John again. He is one of the most creative producers in the business, with an exceptional instinct for true crime storytelling. Together, we can turn remarkable access into gripping, ambitious television.”
