Chinese streamer Sohu Video picks up drama series on Voltaire from ZDF Studios

Voltaire in Love stars Thomas Solivérès as the titular philosopher

Chinese VoD platform Sohu Video has acquired historical drama series Voltaire in Love from Germany’s ZDF Studios.

The 4×52’ French-language period drama is produced by Siècle Productions and France Télévisions. It stars Thomas Solivérès (Cyrano) as one of the world’s greatest philosophers, Voltaire, alongside a supporting cast that includes Christa Theret, Eric Caravaca and Hippolyte Girardot.

The series will also air across five regional TV broadcasters in China: Sichuan TV, Guizhou TV, Shandong TV, Henan TV, and Jilin TV. The distribution deals were announced by Paris-based media company Bolytics.
