Channel 5’s Milkshake! picks up Sesame Street animated spin-off Mecha Builders

Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster and Elmo in Mecha Builders

Paramount-owned Channel 5 in the UK’s preschool strand Milkshake! has acquired Sesame Street animated spin-off series Sesame Street Mecha Builders.

The 52×11’ 3D-animated series features Sesame Street characters Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby as robot heroes-in-training who use their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) superpowers to solve problems.

Along the way, the comedic series aims to help older preschoolers practise foundational critical thinking skills, while introducing them to STEM concepts like simple machines, force and properties of matter.

Sesame Street Mecha Builders will premiere on Milkshake! in spring this year. As part of Milkshake!’s efforts to tell local stories that represent children in the UK, all the secondary characters featured in the series will have British accents.

Sesame Street Mecha Builders is produced by Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organisation behind Sesame Street, with animation from Canada’s Guru Studio.
