CBeebies acquires Australian comedy series Do Not Watch This Show

UK pubcaster the BBC has acquired the first two seasons of Australian animated comedy series Do Not Watch This Show for its preschool channel CBeebies.

Created by Australian entertainer and children’s author Andy Lee, Do Not Watch This Show (32×11’) is based on Lee’s book series Do Not Open This Book and centres on a pompous monster who is desperate for viewers to switch off.

Refusing to accept that he is the star of a television show, he goes to increasingly ridiculous lengths to sabotage each episode, but his efforts only make the show even harder to resist.

Do Not Watch This Show achieved one million average viewers across ABC Family and ABC iview in Australia during its first two weeks and was the biggest launch of a new children’s and family programme in ABC iview history. The series is produced by Lee Bones Productions.

The first season will premiere on CBeebies next week, with the second season set to follow in August. It is distributed globally, excluding Australia and New Zealand, by 9 Story Distribution International.
