Newly appointed CBC/Radio-Canada president and CEO Catherine Tait will make her first industry address at C21’s inaugural Content Canada event on September 12.

The first woman to lead the broadcaster will take part in a fireside chat to discuss her vision for the CBC and offer her thoughts on Canada’s role in the global content industry.

“We are thrilled Catherine Tait has chosen Content Canada to share her future vision with the industry, giving our attendees the first opportunity to hear directly from her since her appointment,” said Ferne Cohen, CEO of Content Canada. “It will be exciting to learn about the new direction for the CBC/Radio-Canada and the innovative ways she plans to keep the CBC at the forefront of an ever-changing industry.”

Tait added: “It’s with great pleasure that I’m speaking at this inaugural event. It’s also an honour to collaborate with the Toronto International Film Festival, which showcases powerful small-screen storytelling. Audiences can now choose the best content from all over the world. Our country’s public broadcaster has a role to play in ensuring they have the best Canadian choices too. Whether through radio, TV or digital, we must nurture our creators and be the conduit of Canadian stories to audiences at home and abroad.”

Content Canada’s flagship event is taking place during the Toronto International Film Festival, which is an event collaborator. The day will be focused on exploring the evolving business of television and celebrating exceptional content. Further participants and partners will be announced in the coming weeks. It takes place on September 12 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto.
