Spain’s Secuoya Studios and Caracol TV of Colombia have announced an agreement to co-develop, coproduce and co-finance premium fiction projects throughout the next year.

The primary objective of the agreement is to give visibility to original Spanish and Latin American stories.

According to the two companies, a committee made up of Colombian and Spanish creatives will be in charge of analysing the projects from a global perspective. Those selected will go on to a second phase of conceptualisation and development of a pilot episode. Once the best stories have been chosen, Secuoya Studios and Caracol TV undertake to launch the different phases of production.

Under the pact, Secuoya and Caracol will each own 50% of the intellectual property of the resulting audiovisual work. They will hold the distribution rights in their own territories and will jointly negotiate the international windows of the chosen productions.

“We fully trust that this framework agreement will generate a very positive impact on the Spanish and Latin American audiovisual industry and will be the first of a long collaborative relationship.”

Lisette Osorio, VP of international business at Caracol Television, added: “Our agreement with Secuoya Studios, a solid ally with a wide creative spectrum, strengthens our steps in the Spanish market and fills us with enthusiasm for the great projects we envision for next year.”
