Canadians get Naked

UK distributor All3Media International has sold its reality format How to Look Good Naked to a Canadian cable network, where production is underway using a local prodco and host.

Corus Entertainment’s female-skewing W Network has commissioned a 13×60′ series based on the format, which will be produced by Insight Productions (Project Runway Canada).

Based on the internationally successful UK series hosted by Gok Wan, several seasons of which have already aired on W, How to Look Good Naked Canada will be fronted by Zain Meghji, an entertainment reporter for CTV pop culture show eTalk.

How to Look Good Naked Canada is set to launch on W in early 2010. The format was originally created by UK indie Maverick TV for Channel 4.

“The How to Look Good Naked concept isn’t about surgery or collagen injections, it’s about changing women’s attitudes towards their bodies,” said Vibika Bianchi, W’s head of original productions. “We believe this is something that will truly speak to Canadian viewers.”

Other local versions of the format have been produced in France, Belgium, Sweden and the US. The latter version, produced for Lifetime TV by RDF USA and hosted by Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Carson Kressley, has also sold internationally.
