Cameras roll on New Media, NDF’s Icelandic murder mystery Reykjavik 112

Reykjavik 112 is being filmed in the Icelandic capital

Icelandic prodco New Media Inc and Germany’s NDF have started filming crime thriller Reykjavik 112 in the Icelandic capital, the Icelandic Film Centre has revealed. Snorri Thórisson and Christian Friedrichs are producing.

The six-episode series is a classic investigative crime drama with a detective trying to solve a tough case. It centres on a young girl who witnesses her mother’s murder and teams with the detective and a child psychologist to identify the killer.

The series will premiere sometime in 2025 on Síminn, the Icelandic telecommunications company that also operates multiple TV channels and streaming services.

The show’s directors are Reynir Lyngdal and Tinna Hrafnsdóttir with a script by Óttar M Nordfjörð, Björg Magnúsdóttir and Thórisson, who is also New Media Inc’s CEO. Friedrichs exec produces for German coproduction partner NDF.

Reykjavik 112 is represented by Copenhagen-based REinvent Studios for international sales.
