C5 poaches Eggheads from BBC

Eggheads host Jeremy Vine

ViacomCBS-owned UK terrestrial Channel 5 has taken quizshow Eggheads from UK pubcaster BBC, where it has aired for 18 years.

The 22nd season of the 12 Yard Productions format, which launched on BBC1 in 2003, will debut on C5.

Presented by Jeremy Vine, Eggheads features amateur quiz teams taking on a team made up of elite quizzers as they attempt to answer high-brow general-knowledge questions to win a cash prize.

Daniel Pearl, commissioning editor at C5, said: “I’m delighted that Eggheads, one of the UK’s most loved quizshows, has found a brand new home on Channel 5. This is yet another step in the transformation of Channel 5 as it grows its audience rapidly.”
