Blue Ant alums Joshua Bowen, Carly Sacks pair up to launch Cutting Class Media

Joshua Bowen, the founder and former MD at Blue Ant-backed animation firm Look Mom! Productions, has partnered with former Blue Ant production finance director Carly Sacks to launch a new production and distribution company, Cutting Class Media (CCM).

The new Toronto-based entity will be focused on adult animated comedy, live-action scripted and unscripted content, with Bowen and Sacks serving as co-CEOs.

Bowen, whose credits include Gary & His Demons and Doomlands, will lead CCM’s adult animation division. Producer and actor Bracken Burns has also joined the company as a partner and head of scripted.

The company said it has already secured some production green lights and will announce them in the coming months.

“We want to tell fresh stories and build something great together. We see the current industry climate as a real opportunity to find a talented team and carve out new ways to develop and finance content,” said Sacks.

Bowen added: “One of the most compelling parts about this team is that each member has produced their own original content. It’s rare to find talent with equal parts creative and business-minded and we think this is one of our company’s biggest strengths.”
