Blink49 launches Canadian unscripted division led by eOne’s Dormer, Brough

Toby Dormer and Allison Brough

Endeavor Content-backed Blink49 Studios has launched an unscripted division and tapped Entertainment One (eOne) execs Toby Dormer and Allison Brough to run it out of Canada.

Vancouver-based Dormer will serve as executive VP of unscripted television, reporting to Blink49 CEO John Morayniss, while Toronto-based Brough joins as VP, unscripted television, and will report to Dormer.

Dormer will oversee all aspects of the company’s unscripted business, including development, production and strategic initiatives, while Brough will lead the creation of Blink49’s unscripted slate aimed at Canada and the international market.

As executive VP of unscripted for eOne in Canada, Dormer had oversight of the company’s slate, including projects such as Hunt for the Chicago Strangler, Border Security, Project Bakeover and Arctic Vets. He joined eOne in 2017, having founded Remedy Productions in the UK in 2003. The prodco was acquired by Argonon in 2011 and expanded into North America in 2012.

Brough, meanwhile, spent just over four years at eOne, where she latterly served as VP of development for unscripted television and podcasts. She was previously director of development at Lone Eagle Entertainment.

Blink49 was launched late last year by Morayniss and several other former eOne executives. Last month it invested in Future Shack Entertainment, a new production entity set up by Jeff Wachtel, the former president of NBCUniversal’s international TV business.
