Bing prodco Acamar Films to launch public service-focused YouTube channel

London-based Acamar Films, the prodco behind hit animated preschool series Bing, is launching a YouTube channel focused on content with public service values.

The channel, titled Again! Again!, will launch globally in March and gives prominence to high-quality character- and narrative-driven content for preschoolers that supports healthy child development.

With “the look and feel of a TV channel,” programmes will be introduced in regular livestreams, with dedicated presenters performing links between a range of selected content.

Content will be licensed on a non-exclusive basis and, according to Acamar, will earn income from “a well-designed revenue-sharing model.”

Acamar said it is already in discussions with “a number of leading producers” to showcase their content and is calling for further submissions ahead of launch.

At this stage, the channel is only able to accept finished content. It will initially feature English-language animation and live-action programming from producers in the UK and internationally.

Programmes will be curated by the channel’s advisory board, which comprises: Michael Carrington, former controller of BBC Children’s, director of CBBC and director of programmes at ABC Australia; Dr Natascha Crandall, a child development expert, early years educational specialist and advisor on over 40 children’s programmes in the UK and US; Debbie Macdonald, ex-BBC children’s content producer and director of acquisitions for Nickelodeon UK; and Acamar’s CEO Mikael Shields.
