Big Brother returns to Finland with new season on original home MTV

Big Brother started in the Netherlands in 1999

Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV has commissioned a new local-language adaptation of Big Brother, marking the format’s return to its original broadcast home in Finland after more than a decade away.

Produced by Banijay Finland, the latest iteration of the reality franchise will premiere this autumn and be titled Big Brother Suomi (Big Brother Finland).

Once again, a group of strangers move into a house together and take on weekly tasks and face evictions until a winner is crowned. The format also includes daily highlight shows, rolling 24/7 live streams and weekly live eviction specials.

Big Brother was previously broadcast in Finland on MTV Sub for 10 seasons between 2005 and 2014. The format was later revived on rival broadcasters Jim and Nelonen from 2019, running for several more seasons until 2022.
