LONDON SCREENINGS: Eagle Eye Drama (EED), the UK prodco set up by the team behind the international drama brand Walter Presents, is partnering with Germany’s Beta Film and PBS Distribution for crime series Patience.

The 6×60’ procedural series stars Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad) as Detective Bea Metcalf, who forms an unlikely duo with an autistic police archivist, played by Ella Maisy Purvis (Malpractice).

EED and Beta Film have previously collaborated on shows such as Professor T, Hotel Portofino and The Couple Next Door. The new partnership was announced at this week’s London TV Screenings.

Patience is adapted from French series Astrid & Raphaelle. Executive producers are Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino.

Filming has begun in Belgium, with production scheduled to move to York in the UK, where the series is set.

The series will launch on US pubcaster PBS, with PBS Distribution handling international distribution. Patience is produced in association with Happy Duck Films and is supported by the Belgian Tax Shelter.

Jo McGrath, chief creative officer at EED, said: “Patience is a heart-warming crime drama with a compelling central character who has her own perplexing mystery to unravel.”

Oliver Bachert, chief distribution officer at Beta Film, said: “Patience is another very original take on the crime drama genre with a unique female twist – a whodunnit and entertainment for all crime fans, featuring the perfect cast combining acclaimed and fresh actors, who form an authentic duo dealing with knotty and unusual cases.”
