Belgian format The Mole burrows into Hungary with TV2 adaptation

The Mole will debut in Hungary next year

Hungarian broadcaster TV2 has commissioned a local-language adaptation of hit Belgian reality competition format The Mole.

Coproduced by TV2 and Belgian prodco Eccholine (Peking Express), it will be locally titled A Tégla and is scheduled to premiere in the third quarter of 2027.

First launched in 1998, The Mole is a format in which 10 players work together to complete a series of challenges, building a shared prize pot along the way. However, one player, The Mole, is secretly working to sabotage the group’s efforts at every turn.

Belgian sales house Primitives licenses the format rights for The Mole. The format has been adapted in around 50 territories globally, including Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland and the US, where it has aired on both ABC and, more recently, Netflix.

TV2 Media Group deputy CEO Gábor Fischer said: “After many years of interest in the format, we are thrilled to have secured the Hungarian television rights to The Mole. We believe A Tégla has all the potential to become Hungary’s most talked-about reality show in 2027. This unique strategy reality format has captivated audiences around the world, and we are excited to bring this global hit to Hungarian viewers.”
