BBC3 takes In My Skin to series

In My Skin was created by Kayleigh Llewellyn

UK digital channel BBC3 and Welsh national broadcaster BBC Wales have commissioned a dark comedy series from prodco Expectation Entertainment.

In My Skin (4×30′) comes from from Kayleigh Llewellyn, who has drawn on her own experiences to create the story of a teenage girl leading a double life.

BBC3 aired a pilot episode of the series last year and the first episode of the new season will pick up where the pilot left off, following Bethan (Gabrielle Creevy) as she desperately tries to keep the truth of her home life a secret from her friends.

In My Skin will be directed by Lucy Forbes (The End of the F***ing World, Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe) and exec produced by Nerys Evans (Intelligence, French & Saunders, Miranda).

Evans joined Peter Fincham and Tim Hincks’ Expectation prodco upon its launch in 2017, having previously been deputy head of comedy at commercially funded UK pubcaster Channel 4.

Nick Andrews, head of commissioning for BBC Wales, said: “The reaction to In My Skin has been stunning. Gabrielle Creevy’s performance as Bethan, a funny, sassy, melancholy teen enduring a unique coming-of-age experience, is profoundly moving.”
