BBC Scotland and BBC Factual have commissioned two new instalments of true crime documentary series Murder Trial, both to be produced by Channel 4-owned, Glasgow-based indie Firecrest Films.

The first, Death of a Dog Walker (working title, 2×60′), details the case of Brian Low, who was murdered in February 2024 while out walking his dog on a remote country path in Highland Perthshire.

Murder Trial: Culpable Homicide (working title, 2×60′), examines the death of Kimberly Bruce, who fell from a motorway bridge in Dundee. Her husband stands trial, charged with culpable homicide and domestic abuse – the first prosecution of its kind in Scotland.

Both new Murder Trial programmes will be screened on BBC Scotland and BBC Two, and will stream on iPlayer. Firecrest Films is also producing a spin-off 10-part podcast series, Inside the Murder Trial, co-commissioned by BBC Scotland and BBC Sounds.
