BBC makes first acquisition of Globoplay original with fantasy series Blood Red

Blood Red – Under the Moonlight centres on a forbidden romance

MIPCOM: UK public broadcaster the BBC has picked up the first season of fantasy drama Blood Red – Under the Moonlight, its first ever acquisition of an original series from Brazil’s Globoplay.

The 10×30’ coming-of-age story, which debuted on Globoplay last year, centres on a wolf-girl and human whose paths cross, sparking a forbidden romance.

It is created and written by Rosane Svartman and Claudia Sardinha, with Noa Bressane, Ricardo Spencer, Renata Porto d’Ave and Augusto Lana directing.

The BBC has acquired the series for BBC Three and iPlayer. The deal was announced during Globo’s showcase at Mipcom this week.
