BBC farms out reality series to Viasat

Modern Times Group-owned Viasat Broadcasting will air the upcoming BBC2 factual reality series Tudor Farm in 29 countries.

Viasat pre-bought rights to the series, in which participants recreate what life was like in Britain in the year 1500, from distributor All3Media International.

The series will premiere on the Viasat History channel, which has previously shown Wartime Farm, Edwardian Farm and Victorian Farm. The channel is broadcast across the Nordic and Baltic regions, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS.

All3-owned prodco Lion Television is producing the series for the BBC in the UK, where it is set to air this autumn.

This follows Viasat picking up Great Continental Railway Journeys from FremantleMedia International for Viasat History last week.

Meanwhile, Viasat has also acquired another BBC2 factual series, Engineering Giants, from All3Media, for its Viasat Explorer channel in the Nordic and Baltic regions.
