Baby Shark swims to Nickelodeon

Baby Shark comes from Pinkfong

Nickelodeon is developing an animated series based on the Baby Shark music video that went viral last year.

Baby Shark, a catchy song about a family of cartoon sharks, has amassed 2.8 billion views on YouTube. Now, the company behind it, Pinkfong, part of South Korean educational entertainment outfit SmartStudy, is collaborating with Nickelodeon on a showed based on the property.

Nickelodeon has already turned a YouTube sensation into a series this year. In April, the network premiered Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, a programme featuring Ryan, a seven-year-old boy who found fame on YouTube for his unboxing and toy-reviewing videos. Shortly after its premiere, the series was renewed for a second season.
