AVoD service Tubi takes North American rights to South African thriller Devil’s Peak

Devil’s Peak is a South African crime thriller set in Cape Town

Fox-owned AVoD platform Tubi has picked up exclusive North American rights to South African crime thriller Devil’s Peak.

The five-part limited series, produced by Lookout Point and Expanded Media Productions in association with MultiChoice Studios and BBC Studios, will debut in the US and Canada on January 15.

Based on Deon Meyer’s 2004 novel of the same name, the Cape Town-set project follows a detective (played by Hilton Pelser) tasked with tracking down a vigilante killer whose crimes are capturing the imagination of the city.

The show was written and created for TV by Matthew Orton (Operation Finale, Moon Knight), who adapted the series with Amy Jephta.

Executive producers on the project include Lookout Point’s Laura Lankester and Expanded Media’s Francis Hopkinson as well as M-Net’s Nomsa Philiso, Yolisa Phahle and Allan Sperling.

International sales are handled by BBC Studios, which is the parent company of London-based Lookout Point.
