Australian media group Racat launches new lending company Northern Screen Finance

Northern Pictures, the group behind Australian independent production company Racat, has launched a new specialist lending company for the screen sector.

Peter Anderson

Northern Screen Finance, helmed by managing director Peter Anderson, CFO Steve Morgan and general counsel Page Henty, aims to provide streamlined cashflow finance to strengthen the Australian screen production sector and extend local content opportunities in global markets.

Anderson said the company was designed to address the blockages often encountered in the financing pipeline process.

“With a deep understanding of the production process end-to-end, our goal is to make the lending experience seamless and efficient, empowering producers to focus on creating outstanding content,” Anderson said.

The company also announced their first financing project for Roadshow Rough Diamond’s forthcoming six-part series Dalliance, securing an offset loan.

The series has been commissioned by Network Ten and Paramount and delves into the complicated social and sexual liaisons of 60-somethings with a cast that includes Hugo Weaving, Heather Mitchell, Georgie Parker and David Wenham. Dalliance, is expected to be broadcast later this year.

Anderson was previously MD of sister Racat company, Northern Pictures, until last year, a role he held for seven years. The combined executive team behind Northern Screen Finance has extended cashflow finance to over 60 productions across varying budgets and genres including kids, comedy and scripted series, documentaries and feature films working for local broadcasters, global streamers and international partners.
