Arte, ABC Commercial declare Wild Wars deal

Wild Wars Australia airs from November

European cultural pubcaster Arte has agreed an exclusive deal with ABC Commercial for a series about strange Australian creatures.

Produced by Wildbear Entertainment, Wild Wars Australia (4×60′) uses rarely seen footage of Australia’s resilient and unusual native creatives, some of which are under threat.

On a continent of extremes, these animals, birds and reptiles fight for survival against the elements, facing the challenges of epic environments.

Arte, which will air the doc in November, has exclusive rights in France and Germany for two years under the agreement with the sales arm of Australian pubcaster ABC, which has also agreed deals with CCTV-owner China Media Group and National Geographic for the show.

The two have picked up the show for channels in Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Wild Wars Australia was launched at Mipcom last year and joins other Wildbear Entertainment programming on the ABC Commercial slate such as Wild Australians (6×60′) and Wild Forces (4×60′).

Both shows have been sold to British Columbia’s Knowledge Network and Swedish pubcaster SVT, for its SVT Knowledge and SVT Play services.
