Apple TV+ to adapt bestseller I’m Glad My Mom Died as dramedy with Jennifer Aniston

Apple TV+ has expanded its comedy-drama slate by greenlighting an original series based on the bestselling memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died, starring Jennifer Aniston.

The 10-part coming-of-age series is inspired by Jennette McCurdy’s book, published in 2022, which tells the story of her struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing mother.

I’m Glad My Mom Died hails from Apple Studios, with producers and production firms involved including Sharon Horgan’s Merman, Lucky Chap, Echo Films, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay.

Aniston plays the mother character and will also executive produce the project. It is the latest collaboration between Apple TV+ and the actress, who also stars in its original series The Morning Show.

The new show will be written, executive produced and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Ratcher (Ramy).
