Apple TV is broadening its commissioning remit by greenlighting The Last Person on Earth, its first ever original dating documentary series.

Fronted by couples’ therapist Esther Perel, the show brings together singles who appear to be polar opposites and sends them on an adventure to a romantic and remote destination. The series aims to ask the question: could the last person on earth you think you’d ever want to date end up being the one person you can’t live without?

It is produced by Boldprint Studios and counts Dan Gray, Lou Hutchinson, Phil Harris and director Josh Jacobs among its executive producers.

Elsewhere, Apple TV renewed The Morning Show, led by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, for a fifth and final season, which will premiere in 2027.

The series, which debuted in 2019, is produced by Media Res, Hello Sunshine and Echo Films. Executive producers include Michael Ellenberg, Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter and Charlotte Stoudt.
