Based on a true-crime book by British-American author Mikita Brottman, Guilty Creatures delves into the psyche of a torrid romance and subsequent act of murder by two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers who live with the emotional toll of being killers for 18 years.

Brottman’s book, titled Guilty Creatures: Sex, God & Murder in Tallahassee, Florida, was published in 2024 and is being adapted for the screen by Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies).

Garner, whose credits include Ozark, Weapons and the upcoming Netflix drama The Altruists, will star in and executive produce the series, with Stuart Zicherman (The Shrink Next Door, The Americans) serving as showrunner and exec producer and Craig Gillespie (Your Friends & Neighbors, Pam & Tommy) directing.

Tomorrow Studios, which is led by Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, developed the adaptation under its first-look deals with Garner’s Alma Margo and Gillespie’s Fortunate Jack Productions.

In addition to Garner, Zicherman and Gillespie, executive producers on the project include Adelstein, Clements and Alissa Bachner for Tomorrow Studios, in addition to DeLappe, Annie Marter and Brottman.
