AMC/Sundance grows Lat Am team

AMC/Sundance Channel Global has appointed a VP of global distribution and business development for Latin America.

Gustavo Lopez will take up the newly created role at the international division of AMC Networks as it prepares to launch Robert Redford’s Sundance Channel in the region in September.

The Spanish-language channel will broadcast 24/7 on satcaster DirecTV in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela in September.

Sundance Channel is already available in Europe and Asia, while a Portuguese-language version is also planned for Brazil.

Lopez, a former Discovery Communications and HBO Latin America exec, will be based in Miami. He will oversee the channel’s distribution, marketing and sales across Latin America and report to AMC/Sundance Channel Global’s executive VP Ed Palluth.
