Amazon MGM Studios has ordered darkly comedic murder-mystery Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone to series for Prime Video.

Based on American author and comedian Benjamin Stevenson’s novel of the same name, the logline reads: “Set deep in the dense mountains of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, the series follows Ern Cunningham, a mystery-writing expert who reluctantly attends a family reunion to welcome his brother Michael home from prison – the same brother Ern helped convict.

“When a frozen body appears and a snowstorm traps everyone inside, the deaths begin to mount. Everyone in his family has already killed someone – either by accident or otherwise.”

The series stars Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl, You) and will be adapted by showrunner and exec producer David Hemingson. Badgley and Stevenson will also exec produce.

Fifth Season and Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories are coproducing. Papandrea will exec produce with chief operating officer Steve Hutensky and senior VP Jeanne Snow.

An adaptation of the book was previously in development by Fifth Season and Made Up Stories for HBO in 2022, which never went ahead.
