Alphablocks reboot heads to CBeebies with first full season since 2013

Alphablocks first aired in 2010

BBC Children’s & Education, Alphablocks Ltd and Blue Zoo Animation Studio are teaming up on a reboot of phonics-focused animated series Alphablocks for BBC preschool channel CBeebies.

The reboot marks the first full season of the show since 2013 and follows the success of hit sister series Numberblocks and the Alphablocks/Numberblocks crossover specials in 2022. Alphablocks originally ran for four seasons between 2010 and 2013.

The new Alphablocks series returns on Monday with a fresh visual look and more complex phonics concepts, aiming to help children master reading fundamentals through engaging storylines and musical elements. It also follows the premiere on CBeebies last month of spin-off series Wonderblocks, which teaches pre-coding skills.

Oli Hyatt, MD of Blue Zoo, said: “The show’s proven educational approach, combined with modern animation techniques, creates an ideal learning environment for today’s children. The Blocks brand content is used in 90% of UK primary schools, and these educational animations have revolutionised early learning to such an extent that the national curriculum has adapted to match children’s enhanced capabilities.”
