Produced by CBS Studios, the series is scheduled to begin production in LA in 2027 and is written and created by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage (The OC) and Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday).

The show picks up the story more than three decades since the movie was released. Cher is now a successful businesswoman but finds that raising a teenage girl makes her feel clueless all over again.

Silverstone also serves as an executive producer, alongside the movie’s original director Amy Heckerling and producer Robert Lawrence.

It’s not the first Clueless TV iteration. Between 1996 and 1999, ABC and UPN aired three seasons of a sitcom also called Clueless, starring Rachel Blanchard as Cher and Stacey Dash in her original role as best friend Dionne.

Jane Wiseman, head of originals at Paramount+, said: “Clueless is coming home. We’re especially proud to be filming this much-anticipated series in Los Angeles, honouring its starring role in the original film while investing in the city’s exceptional talent and crews.”
