Age of Adaline writer Salvador Paskowitz launches microdrama outfit Super Punchy

Salvador Paskowitz, co-writer of the 2015 feature Age of Adaline, and his business partner Timothy Nelligan have set up a vertical video-focused company looking to bring Hollywood storytelling into the microdrama space.

Super Punchy Studios is backed by vertical video actors and creators Nicole Mattox and Seth Edeen, and will also have its own proprietary vertical video platform.

Mattox works in short films, TV and film, while Edeen is an actor who has starred in more than 20 microdramas.

The company’s first vertical series is a drama titled Step By Step, set to be released in May. The 60-episode project, which is reformatted version of a feature film script, is written by Kristin Monroe Paskowitz and Halo Gracey. It will star Mattox and Edeen alongside Molly Anderson and Haley Lohrli, with Super Punchy Studios producing.

“At Super Punchy, we’re not chasing the evolution of vertical storytelling, we are actively shaping it,” said Paskowitz, who also produced 2019 feature Ms Purple.

“The future of this medium belongs to those who prioritise originality, ownership and efficiency,” said Nelligan. “We have this and represent a new mindset in the industry that will resonate most with global audiences. We are not volume-driven, we are artist-driven.”
