A+E Networks, OTF explore familicide

Family Man focuses on three cases of familicide

A+E Networks in the UK has commissioned a one-off documentary about familicide for Crime + Investigation, produced by factual television specialists Off The Fence.

Family Man will premiere on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in conjunction with Crime + Investigation’s #HereForHer initiative and in support of UK domestic abuse charity Refuge.

Familicide, which Crime + Investigation said is a growing phenomenon, is the wiping out of an entire family by a father/husband who then commits suicide.

The documentary will explore three cases of familicide by Paul Newman, Darren Sykes and Robert Mochrie between 2000 and 2016.

Family Man has been ordered by Dan Korn, VP of programming at A+E Networks UK, and Diana Carter, commissioning editor and head of talent at A+E Networks UK.

The news comes after A+E Networks UK worked with Off The Fence on Murdered by My Husband. The executive producers for Off The Fence are Allison Bean and Fiona Scott.

Scott said: “The film offers an insight into the devastating but secretive crime of familicide and its terrible impact on family and friends. The film is, above all, a tribute to the victims and to those left behind.”
