Abhishek Rege steps down from Endemol Shine India after 15 years

Endemol Shine India’s CEO Abhishek Rege is leaving the Banijay-owned production company after 15 years.

Ahead of his departure, Rege will work with his yet-to-be-announced successor and the Endemol Shine India team during a transition period.

Rege joined Endemol in 2007 as head of commercial and legal, before being elevated to chief operating officer in 2012 and then CEO in 2017.

Commenting on behalf of the Endemol Shine India board, Peter Langenberg, chief operating officer at Banijay, said: “Abhishek has played a central role in Endemol Shine India’s growth during his time as CEO and has been a strong leader who has built on the company’s remarkable successes across the business.

“He will be leaving with our sincere thanks for all he has done in driving Endemol Shine India to become the market leader that it is today, and we wish him every success for the future.”

Endemol Shine India is a joint venture between majority owner Banijay (51%), which it became part of in 2020, and CA Media (49%). It produces over 800 hours of programming annually for Indian broadcasters.

Since it was established in 2006, Endemol Shine India has produced shows such as: Bigg Boss, which is produced in six regional languages; Fear Factor; MasterChef India; So You Think You Can Dance; The Great Indian Laughter Challenge; Love School; The Money Drop; Deal or No Deal; The Test Case; Aarya; and Mom. It is also working with Shekhar Kapur on the development of The Ibis Trilogy.
