ABC fleshes out pilot roster

US network ABC has ordered a crime drama pilot from the producer of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal.

Flesh & Blood, from Jenna Bans, chronicles the return of a politician’s son to a small community after he was presumed dead following his disappearance 10 years earlier. At the same time, his presumed murderer is released from prison, prompting the police to re-open the original investigation.

Bans – whose credits also include ABC medical drama Private Practice – will exec produce the ABC Studios pilot with Mandeville Television’s David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks. It will air as part of ABC’s 2015/16 season.

The news comes in the same week that ABC added five pilots to its drama slate including Runner, a show about the murky world of the international gun trade based on Turkish drama The End.
