ABC bolsters Tuesdays, Thursdays with Hilary Swank drama, Rookie spin-off

Niecy Nash alongside Nathan Fillion in The Rookie

Disney-owned US broadcast network ABC has unveiled its fall schedule, with Hilary Swank-fronted drama Alaska airing on Tuesday nights and its spin-off from The Rookie slotting in on Thursdays.

In Alaska, Swank (Million Dollar Baby) plays a recently disgraced reporter who leaves her high-profile New York life behind to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage as she seeks personal and professional redemption.

Two-time Oscar winner Swank, writer/director Tom McCarthy, Melissa Wells, Bert Salke, Kyle Hopkins and Ryan Binkley all executive produce for 20th Television.

The series will air at 22.00 on Thursdays, following long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

Meanwhile, The Rookie: Feds stars Niecy Nash as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy, who was first introduced in a two-part event episode of The Rookie.

Nash-Betts, Mark Gordon, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross and Corey Miller executive produce alongside The Rookie star Nathan Fillion and series creators Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter for Entertainment One and ABC Signature.

The Rookie: Feds will play in the 22.00 slot on Tuesdays following a two-hour airing of Bachelor in Paradise.

The new celebrity version of classic gameshow Jeopardy will air at 20.00 on Sundays, leading into the existing celebrity version of Wheel of Fortune at 21.00.

Craig Erwich

Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, said: “Our fall schedule is a testament to our strong, dynamic programming slate that we’re continuing to nurture with top talent, world-class, award-winning storytellers and marquee titles.
