New GM for Cartoon Network Korea

Cartoon Network has appointed a new general manager for its Korean channel, hiring the man who used to run rival children’s channel Tooniverse.

Chin-won Chang will be in charge of Cartoon Network Korea’s revenue, ratings and brand presence, as well as strategic development and new business. He reports to Ron Lee, VP and general manager of Turner Entertainment Networks Korea.

Chang “will leverage his experience to further drive Cartoon Network’s channel business and go beyond television, making broader opportunities for Cartoon Network Enterprises and our digital business,” said Lee, who was previously general manager for the channel.

A six-year Tooniverse veteran, Chang oversaw the launch of the animé net’s children’s web portal Tooniland and an online game version of Keroro, among other things.

Cartoon Network Korea is a joint-venture between Turner Broadcasting and JoongAng Ilbo and launched in 2006. Cartoon Network claims 63 million cable homes in the Asian region.
