MKMG’s Rattic enters Playground

Shortform children’s series Rattic

European streaming service Playground TV has acquired Ukrainian animated series Rattic for its platforms in the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The show comprises 60 shortform episodes and is distributed by Kiev-based MKMG. AVoD service Playground, which debuted in the UK last year and expanded across Europe last month, has now added the series to its library.

The Playground deal comes after Rattic was licensed to Ukrainian children’s channel PlusPlus, part of the 1+1 Media Group, and Russian streaming platform Okko.

Undisclosed distributors in China and Malaysia have also taken local rights to the show, according to MKMG’s head of sales and acquisitions for Europe and Latin America, Anna Verbovska.

In related news, PlusPlus and fellow Ukrainian TV channels UA:PBC (Suspilne) and Volia Cine+Kids have acquired educational children’s animation Lessons of Aunt Owl from MKMG.

PlusPlus and UA:PBC have also taken puppet show Mouse Science (13×11’), while the latter has also acquired edutainment title Infotoy (26×7’). Fellow Ukrainian nets UATV and Dom have licensed family animation Anyday Holiday (26×7’) and Who’s There? (12×7’).

MKMG is also branching out into Western and Central Europe after Germany’s RTV and Balkan broadcaster Kitchen TV acquired cooking titles VegOn (50×3’) and Simple & Delicious (101×3’).

In addition, Verbovska has confirmed that art-themed interstitial series Paintings of theWorld (200×3’) and shortform travel series World in Pictures (200×5’) have been bought by RTV in Germany.
