Mentorn names development chief

Tinopolis-owned UK prodco Mentorn Media has promoted a senior development executive to head of development.

Paul Hughes will lead the development team with a focus on returnable factual entertainment and entertainment content for the UK and international markets.

Hughes joined Mentorn last year as senior development producer and has previously held development roles at Zig Zag Productions, TwoFour, the BBC and Remarkable Productions, working across a wide range of entertainment and factual entertainment titles.

Previous head of development Matthew Clifton, who had been in the position since 2014, left in August last year and recently resurfaced at UK indie Rise Films.

Mentorn’s current shows include BBC duo Robot Wars and Question Time plus Channel 5’s Traffic Cops.

In October, the former head of factual at UK satcaster Sky, Celia Taylor, was made MD at the firm.

“We have a number of exciting new projects in the pipeline and are in active discussions with both US and UK broadcast partners, so now’s the time to further build on those relationships,” she said of Hughes’ appointment.
