Média-Participations taps France for toons

European entertainment group Média-Participations has brought on board Katell France, the former MD at Studio 100 Animation, as a consulting producer.

France will collaborate with Média-Participations’ roster of production companies, Ellipsanime Productions, Dargaud Media, Dupuis Edition & Audiovisuel and Ellipse Studio. The five prodcos are overseen by MD Caroline Duvochel.

France headed up Studio 100 Animation for a decade before leaving last year to become an independent producer and worked with Dupuis Edition & Audiovisuel to develop their project The Marsupilamis (52×12′) with Belgian animation studio Belvision.

The show was pitched at Cartoon Forum last year and marked the first CGI animated series based on 1950s comic book character Marsupilami.

France takes over from Maïa Tubiana, who will continue to work with Média-Participations as an independent producer and shift to other projects such as its forthcoming series based on The Smurfs.

France began her career at Gaumont in 1995 and joined Xilam in 2007 as deputy MD. In 2010, she became MD and executive producer of Studio 100 Animation, producing more than 250 half-hours of animated programmes, including Maya the Bee and Vic the Viking.

Média-Participations is the European entertainment group behind titles such as The Garfield Show, Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke and The Red Turtle.
