ANNECY NEWS – Canadian computer animation studio Mainframe Entertainment has appointed Lou Novak as ceo replacing Ian Pearson, who will assume the newly created position of chief creative officer.

Novak, who has held senior management positions at Galoob, Mattel and Coleco, assumes the position effective immediately.

In his new role, Novak will provide strategic direction to the company as well as oversee all business and operational aspects of Mainframe.

Among other things, Novak will oversee the company's move into long-form cgi for feature films and interactive entertainment. It is currently in production on 26 half-hour episodes of Action Man, and the all-new Heavy Gear television series.

Additionally, the studio is in production on a large-format

Prior to joining Mainframe, Novak served as president/ceo of Videosnap, a streaming media application service provider based in New York.

Previously, he spent 10 years at Galoob Toys in various executive management positions before advancing to evp/coo where he was successful in the strategic repositioning and returning the company to profitability.

Pearson founded Mainframe Entertainment eight years ago with partners Phil Mitchell and Gavin Blair. The company is best known as the pioneer of computer animated TV series with the series ReBoot. Pearson and his team have produced six computer animated TV series, which have aired in over 70 countries around the world.
